The Kids Clubs is a charitable organisation run by a voluntary managed committee, independently from the academy. It was established in 2003, by a grant from the Lottery Commission. The clubs are open for any child to attend, whether they are enrolled at Thrumpton Primary Academy or not.
The Clubs are Ofsted registered, based at Thrumpton Primary Academy, and provide childcare for children aged between 2-11 years.
We provide a warm, safe and happy environment in which each child receives stimulation leveled at their age and development. Children are supervised at all times by qualified and experienced staff.
Parents and carers are welcome to come and visit at any time to look around our facilities and see for themselves what we have to offer.
We are a fully inclusive setting, with good disabled access and regularly take referrals from Breaks in Partnership. Policies and procedures are always available for you to read.
We offer full-day care, Monday to Friday from 7am-6pm. We offer childcare to suit your needs, including inset days.
We run five clubs:
- breakfast club
- pre-school playgroup (am and pm)
- lunchtime club
- after school club
- holiday club
Pre-school play group
We believe that young children learn best through play.
When playing, children learn at their highest level. Playing with others is important for children’s social and emotional development. Through play children explore and develop learning experiences, which help them make sense of the world. They practice and build up ideas, and learn how to control themselves and understand the need for rules.
We believe that going to a pre-school for the first time is a big step in the life of a young child and understand that the settling in period is important for both children and their parents and carers. This will take longer for some children than others and you should not feel worried if your child takes a while to settle. Children cannot play or learn if they are anxious and tense and each child has different needs.
Two and three-year-old funding places are available.
We are open term-time, Monday to Friday, 9-11.30am and 1-3.30pm
Breakfast Club is open every week day, from 7-9am, during term time. Breakfast is served between 8.05-8.30am, to allow for a relaxed meal time. The club provides the children with breakfast of cereal, toast or crumpets and water or milk. Children arriving after 8.30am will not be offered breakfast.
For parent and carers who have a child in the academy’s nursery class, we offer a lunchtime club. This club is open weekdays, in term time, from 11.30am-1pm and enables parents to stay at work or run errands for a little longer.
After school club
Children enjoy a varied activities programme each day, including a book corner, dressing-up and role play, cooking, a range of games, puzzles, books and creative materials, along with regular arts and crafts activities. In addition to this, the after school club has access to a large outdoor area where children have supervised outdoor activities and games.
Our after school club is for children aged 2-11 years and is open on weekday in term time, from 3.30-6pm.
Our holiday club aims to provide a homely environment for children to play, exercise and learn. Activities are wide-ranging and include a balance of both indoor and outdoor play with access to a large sports field. Activities are structured to ensure accessibility and enjoyment whilst learning about new things and socialising with friends.
Places need to be booked in advance and paid in full at the time of booking.
We are open outside of term time, from Monday to Friday, and offer a full day session from 7am-6pm, for £3 per hour.
You will need to provide a packed lunch if your child is attending all day. Light refreshments are provided mid-morning and in the afternoon, with cold drinks available throughout the day.
