At Thrumpton Primary Academy we have football fever!

Inspired by the recent success of the Lionesses and Three Lions the school football team has seen a dramatic increase in interest in playing football, especially amongst the girls.

The team is off to a great start to the year, winning their two opening league games of the season and receiving kit from their new sponsor Kettlewells Coaches.

The children are excited about the new football kit and are super proud to be wearing it, Isla from year 6 said ‘playing football is so much fun, and I feel proud to represent my school in my new football uniform!’

Jane Bushby from Kettlewells Coaches said ‘we are so pleased to provide Thrumpton Primary Academy football club with their new kit, they look fabulous, and we wish them all the best for the season. We know they will represent us, and their school, exceptionally!’

The coach of the team, Martin Williams, is excited to see more girls showing interest in playing football, he said ‘last year was a big push to get girls back involved in football. We got a girls’ team together who competed in the Bassetlaw Girls Football competition, finishing third out of 14 schools, and from there three of the girls have started playing in the mixed school team.’

We wish the team all the best for the rest of the season!
