We wanted to share the incredible success of two of our year 6 pupils, whose hard work, talent and dedication are truly inspirational.

Dancing dreams come true for Bobbie

At just 11 years old, Bobbie is already making impressive strides in the world of dance. Having taken her first dance steps at the age of two, she joined Deburnays Dance Centre at six and hasn’t looked back since.

Bobbie trains in a wide range of styles including Ballet, Modern, Tap, Street, Acro, Inter-Foundation, Elite Ballet and Pointe, dancing five days a week. Despite her packed schedule, ballet remains her absolute favourite.

Her dedication and passion have recently paid off, after a successful audition, Bobbie has secured a coveted place at the Northern Ballet Academy’s Inter Foundation Associates programme, starting in September. She will travel to Leeds every Saturday to train for three hours with some of the best young dancers in the region.

Well done, Bobbie – we’re all incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see where your dance journey takes you next!

Summer makes a splash as County Champion

At just 10 years old, Summer Woodcock is already making waves in the world of competitive swimming. Representing Retford Swimming Club and the elite Bassetlaw Swimming Squad, Summer’s dedication, talent and hard work are paying off in spectacular style.

In February, Summer competed in the Nottinghamshire ASA County Championships, held over three intense days. She delivered an outstanding performance, taking home an incredible eight gold medals and two silvers. Her results crowned her the overall county champion for under-11 girls in Nottinghamshire.

Backstroke is Summer’s strongest stroke, and she currently holds the title of fastest under-11 girl in England for this event. Her training schedule is nothing short of inspirational – she trains six times a week, including two early-morning sessions from 4 – 6.30am, one of which she completes before school!

Summer began swimming from a young age and had already completed all the official swimming stages by the time she was eight. That same year, she joined Retford Swimming Club and was later invited to join the Bassetlaw Swim Squad.

With her sights firmly set on swimming professionally and one day competing in the Olympics, Summer is taking another exciting step this October as she heads to the prestigious Tuscany Olympic Swim Camp with Bassetlaw Swim Squad.

Well done, Summer – we are incredibly proud of your achievements and can’t wait to see what comes next on your journey to Olympic glory!
